Buckeyes, Ducks Looking Good for San Diego Talent
San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln five-star defensive lineman David Bailey is one of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the country.
With less than two months until the Early Signing Period, Bailey appears to be closing in on a decision.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman released a top five earlier this fall that included Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC.
According to On3’s recruiting prediction machine, the Buckeyes currently have a slight lead over the Ducks for Bailey’s commitment.

- Oregon: 34.4%
The On3 RPM has Ohio State as the favorite to land Bailey, but the Ducks are still very much in the mix.
Bailey is set to announce his commitment on December 21.
Bailey is a Top-10 Prospect in the 2023 Class
Bailey is rated as a five-star prospect by all major recruiting services.
- 247Sports: No. 6 overall
- Rivals: No. 9 overall
- ESPN: No. 10 overall
The San Diego native is also one of the top defensive linemen in the country, regardless of class.
Bailey is a disruptive force on the defensive line and is a big reason why Lincoln High School is one of the top teams in California.
Bailey Would be a Big Get for Oregon
Bailey would be a huge addition to Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class.
The Ducks have already signed a number of talented prospects in this cycle, including five-star quarterback Dante Moore and five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey.
Adding Bailey to the mix would give Oregon one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
Ohio State is Also a Strong Contender
Ohio State is another school that is heavily involved in Bailey’s recruitment.
The Buckeyes have a long history of success with defensive linemen, and they are known for developing their players into NFL stars.
If Bailey were to choose Ohio State, he would be joining a program that is consistently competing for national championships.

Bailey is set to announce his commitment on December 21.
