EFL Championship: Leeds United End Winning Streak with Draw Against Huddersfield Town
Title Fight Heats Up as Top Teams Stumble
Bamford's Late Goal Denies Terriers Victory
Leeds United's remarkable nine-match winning streak came to an end on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town at Elland Road. Patrick Bamford's late equalizer salvaged a point for the hosts, keeping their title hopes alive.
Huddersfield took a shock lead in the first half through a stunning strike from Tom Lees. The visitors held on resolutely for much of the game, frustrating Leeds' attacking threats.
However, Leeds refused to give up and Bamford finally found the breakthrough in the 85th minute. The striker pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home to earn his team a hard-fought point.
The result leaves Leeds still in contention for the Championship title, albeit with their lead slightly reduced. Huddersfield, meanwhile, move up to 10th place in the table with a point.
